Difference Between OPC Cement and PPC Cement. Portland Pozzolana Cement is a variation of Ordinary Portland Cement. Pozzolana materials namely fly ash, volcanic ash, are added to the OPC so that it becomes PPC. ... PPC has low initial setting strength compared to OPC but hardens over a period of time with proper curing.
What is PPC Cement?:
PPC Cement stands for” Portland Pozzolana Cement”. Pozzolana is an extender a supplementary cementitious material used to enhance improve the strength and durability of the cement. The word Pozzolana comes from the word ‘Pozzoluana’ which is a form of Volcanic Ash.Volcanic Ash is the first form of Pozzolana used in PPC cement, which also includes natural and artificial siliceous and aluminous materials such as clay, slag, silica fume, fly ash & Shale .Some of these above-mentioned materials are industrial surplus byproducts waste residues produced from other processes but they and are ideal in producing PPC Cement.
Pozzolana as a material is an artificial material which possesses silica in its reactive form. Along with 20–35% of Pozzolanic materials, PPC majorly also contains portland OPC Clinker(65–70%) and Gypsum. Dalmia Cement is a nationwide large scale manufacturer of PPC Cement and is popular in both residential and institutional constructions.

What is OPC Cement?

OPC Cement stands for ‘Ordinary Portland Cement’. It is the most widely and commonly used variant type of cement in the world. Used mainly in the construction of high rise buildings, OPC Cement takes the lowest time to settle set and harden. In India, Dalmia OPC Cement is the most popular choice when it comes to large scale construction.

OPC Cement is manufactured by adding limestone and other raw argillaceous, calcareous materials and gypsum materials like argillaceous, calcareous and gypsum. OPC can be manufactured on a large scale wherever there is availability of minerals like limestone, due to the easy availability of raw materials an essential ingredient for production of Portland cement. required for its production. It is the most popular choice of cement throughout the world due to it’s versatility as a major binding material.as its production costs are comparatively lower.

Strenght Of Cement (Grade..)

Grade of cement is nothing but strength of the cement .(How much strength a person has to lift a weight, is same related to the How much Strength does cement can yield or bear.)

Here we use and supply the cements to customer  which is of 53 grades. We always gives the best quality material to our customer .Below are some basic information about the grades of cements which helps to customers for understanding the Grade criteria.

You may have heard of terms like 33 grade cement or 53 grade cement. These are terms used for describing different grades of cement. A grade of cement indicates the strength of cement that is measured in Mega pascal (MPa) or N/mm2. Cement is usually measured after 28 days of curing for a standard cube.

Different grades of Cement:

No matter whats the brand of cement is, There are three different grades of Ordinary Portland cement which are available in the market.

  1. 33 Grade
  2. 43 Grade
  3. 53 Grade
. The strength of cement is generally measured as compressive strength.

33 Grade of Cement:

As per Indian Standards, IS 269 – 2015, 33 Grade of cement means the Compressive Strength of cement after 28 days is 33N/mm2This grade of cement is outdated and no one is using in recent times. 33 Grade of cement is not suitable for making more than M20 grade of concrete.

43 Grade of Cement:

As you already know 43 grade of cement means the Compressive strength of cement when tested under the CTM is 43N/mm2 as per Indian Standards, IS 8112 – 2013. Concrete of grade upto M30 grade can be made using 43 grade of cement

53 Grade of Cement:

This is the high grade of cement where anyone can easily buy from the market. The Strength of cement having the Compressive strength of 53N/mm2 is called 53 grade of cement. The setting time of cement is quicker when compared with the 33 and 43 grade of cement. Any grade more than M25 is easily achievable by using 53 grade of cement.
